2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Introduction
The 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa is the 19th edition of this competition and the first time that it will be held on the African continent.
The Spanish Royal Mint will launch a very special issue to mark the occasion of this sports event that will be held from June 11 to July 11, 2010.
The set is made up of two coins, one a 2-escudos coin in .999 gold, and the other an 8-reales in .925 silver.

The 8-reales coin
The obverse of the sterling silver coin portrays the effigy of H.M. King Juan Carlos I.
On the reverse, against a background simulating the goalpost net in football, the figure of a goalkeeper is pictured throwing the ball and this latter is represented as the earth's globe.
