This set is made up of the 12-euro coins that have been issued between 2002 and 2010 to commemorate important dates and key moments in history.

The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda is launching this complete set comprising the ten coins minted in remembrance of all those important occasions.

The reverse shows the European Union Presidency symbol.

2006 - Quincentenary Christopher Columbus

The reverse of the coin portrays a likeness of Christopher Columbus based on the portrait by Rafael Tejedo that is housed in Madrid's Naval Museum. Seen to the right are the three vessels that the Admiral sailed with on his voyage to the New World.

2007 - 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Rome

The rendering on the reverse is of a hand in the act of signing, set against a background silhouette of the Roman Coliseum, the emblematic building of the city in which the Treaty was signed.

2008 - International Year of Planet Earth

The reverse features the earth's sphere cupped in a hand. In addition, the lower part of the coin displays a pair of outstretched hands and the digits 08 coined using the latent image technique over the shape representing the southern segment of the globe.

2009 - 10th Anniversary Economic and Monetary Union
