1st issue - Royal Sites

Introduction

A new series of collector coins was begun in 2013 under the heading "Patrimonio Nacional" and this will be continued in the coming years. The first series is made up of six coins and is dedicated to the following historical, artistic and natural sites administered by Spain's Heritage organization, namely, the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, the Monastery of Santa Maria la Real de Las Huelgas, the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, the Convent of Las Descalzas Reales (The Royal Barefoot Nuns), and the Royal Convent of the Incarnation.

The Royal Palace of La Almudaina – 4 reales silver

The obverse (common to all six pieces) reproduces an image of the Royal Crown and the texts "ESPAÑA 2013" and "PATRIMONIO NACIONAL".

The reverse of this coin portrays the main façade of the Royal Palace of La Almudaina, located in the city of Palma de Mallorca.

The Monastery of Santa Maria la Real de Las Huelgas – 4 reales silver

The obverse (common to all six pieces) reproduces an image of the Royal Crown and the texts "ESPAÑA 2013" and "PATRIMONIO NACIONAL".

The reverse of the coin depicts the principal façade of the Monastery of Santa Maria la Real de Las Huelgas, in the city of Burgos.

The Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial – 4 reales silver

The obverse (common to all six pieces) reproduces an image of the Royal Crown and the texts "ESPAÑA 2013" and "PATRIMONIO NACIONAL".

The reverse of the third coin reproduces a view of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, which forms part of the Royal Site of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, in an area located between the municipalities of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and of El Escorial (Madrid).

The Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso – 4 reales silver

The obverse (common to all six pieces) reproduces an image of the Royal Crown and the texts "ESPAÑA 2013" and "PATRIMONIO NACIONAL".

The reverse of the fourth coin shows a representation of the principal façade of the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, in the municipality of the Royal Site of San Ildefonso (Segovia); in front of the Palace, in the lower part of the coin, is depicted the Fountain of Amphitrite.

The Convent of Las Descalzas Reales (The Royal Barefoot Nuns) – 4 reales silver

The obverse (common to all six pieces) reproduces an image of the Royal Crown and the texts "ESPAÑA 2013" and "PATRIMONIO NACIONAL".

The reverse of the fifth coin provides a rendering of the principal façade of the Convent of Las Descalzas Reales, located in the city of Madrid.

The Royal Convent of the Incarnation – 4 reales silver

The obverse (common to all six pieces) reproduces an image of the Royal Crown and the texts "ESPAÑA 2013" and "PATRIMONIO NACIONAL".

The reverse of the sixth coin features the principal facade of the Royal Convent of the Incarnation, located in the city of Madrid.
