Euro 2013 Coinage -Autonomous Regions

Introduction

Continuing with the issue of this series dedicated specifically to each of Spain's Autonomous Communities, the Spanish Royal Mint has put on sale two collector coins, one dedicated to the Comunitat Valenciana and the other to the Comunidad Foral de Navarre. As a distinguishing feature, each of them includes a 0.925 sterling silver medal that displays the coat-of-arms of that specific Community.

The set is completed by a 2-euro commemorative coin devoted to the Royal Monastery at San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

This release includes the set of the 2013 Spanish euro coins, presented as a limited edition in a practical numbered blister pack that protects the coins while at the same time enabling a flawless view of both sides of the coin.

Details

The maximum mint run of this Euro set containing coins minted in 2012 is 5,000 units.

2-Euros commemorative coin - Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial

In 2013 a 2-euro commemorative coin dedicated to the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial was released into circulation.

Centered on the obverse is an illustration of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a vast building complex under the administration of the Patrimonio Nacional (Spain's National Trust for Historic Preservation).

This is now the fourth coin in the annual series dedicated to Spanish sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites register.

Valencian Medal

Valencian culture is rooted in influences left by the different peoples that settled the Iberian Peninsula during the course of the centuries, and by their association with the Mediterranean Sea. The patent individuality of its regions has brought about multiple cultural manifestations throughout the territory. The Fallas is a touristic and cultural event of major international import. Worthy of special mention are the celebrations known as Moors and Christians, particularly the one performed in Alcoy, which has been declared of international tourist interest. The Dama de Elche represents the greatest exponent of Iberian art.

Navarre Medal

The culture of Navarre is influenced by its natural surroundings, the Pyrenees, both culture and nature merging to form a landscape of contrasts. Its monuments are a faithful reflection of its evolving history: Roman villas, Romanesque churches, Gothic monasteries and cathedrals, medieval city walls and towers, historic town centers, etc.
