Second Series of Heritage of Mankind Cities

Introduction

The second series of collector coins entitled «Spain's Heritage of Mankind Cities» will continue in 2015.

The first issue was dedicated to the cities of Alcala de Henares, Avila, Baeza, Caceres and Cordoba.

The second set is dedicated to the cities of Cuenca, Ibiza, Merida, Salamanca and San Cristobal de La Laguna.

All of these sites are registered on the World Heritage List.

Details

This second set will comprise five coins minted to proof quality in sterling silver, encapsulated and presented in stylish jewel cases.

The coins are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the FNMT-RCM.

4 reales - Cuenca

The obverse (common to all five coins) reproduces the UNESCO logotype accompanied on the right by the official emblem of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse features a view of the Casas Colgadas de Cuenca (the Hanging Houses of Cuenca) with the San Pablo Bridge in the foreground.

4 reales - San Cristóbal de La Laguna

The obverse (common to all five coins) reproduces the UNESCO logotype accompanied on the right by the official emblem of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse of the fifth coin depicts the tower of the Parish Church of the Immaculate Conception located in the town of San Cristobal de La Laguna on the Island of Tenerife. The eaves of a tiled roof and a leafy plant are represented in the coin foreground.

4 reales - Ibiza

The obverse (common to the five coins) reproduces the UNESCO logotype accompanied at right by the official emblem of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse portrays a view of the Cathedral of Ibiza and the tiled dome of the Church of Santo Domingo.

4 reales - Mérida

The obverse (common to the five coins) reproduces the UNESCO logotype accompanied at right by the official emblem of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse features the Roman theatre at Merida.

4 reales - Salamanca

The obverse (common to the five coins) reproduces the UNESCO logotype accompanied at right by the official emblem of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse reproduces the façade of the City Hall of Salamanca.
