The year 2016 marks the 4th centenary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes y Saavedra (1616 - 2016), one of the greatest writers of all time.
To commemorate this important event the Royal Spanish Mint has launched a 30-euro coin minted in sterling silver, presented in a stylish coin case.
The obverse portrays the overlapping effigies of Their Majesties Don Felipe and Doña Letizia.
The reverse reproduces a portrait of Miguel de Cervantes and a writing desk, taken from an engraving by Manuel Salvador Carmona held in the Royal Spanish Academy.
The coin comes in a stylish currency case, numbered, and in a limited edition of 7,500 units.
