Centenario de El Quijote

This year marks the 4th centenary of the first edition of "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha" by Miguel de Cervantes, the most famed novel in world literature.

To memorialize this date the Spanish Royal Mint worked together with the Post Office on the joint release of a special edition that includes the 2-Euro coin and the commemorative souvenir sheet of postage stamps.

Details

This special edition, commemorating the 4th centenary of the first edition of the famed literary work comes boxed in an original coin case, numbered and limited to 25,000 units.

The four stamps on the souvenir sheet display different scenes from the work and are offered together with the 2-Euro coin commemorating the same anniversary.

The 2005 release of the 2-Euro coin is dedicated to the literary work "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha". The obverse portrays Don Quixote, lance in hand, against a background of windmills.

The reverse side is common to all the Euro zone countries.
