Details
As every year, International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March to commemorate the achievements of women around the world. The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda is issuing a new issue to commemorate this date, paying tribute to the lawyer and politician Clara Campoamor.
It is a collector's coin minted in silver and with a metric of 8 reales, like the one issued last year dedicated to the Galician writer Emilia Pardo Bazán.
The obverse of this coin features a portrait of His Majesty King Felipe VI. The reverse shows an image of Clara Campoamor at a political meeting held on 5 April 1931 at the "Urumea" pelota court in San Sebastián (Kutxateka/Fondo Photo Carte/Ricardo Martín); to her left is the symbol of women and, in capital letters, the legends EQUALITY, FREEDOM and PROGRESS.
