The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia will be the 21st FIFA World Cup, a football tournament contested by the men’s national teams of 208 member associations of a total of 211 current FIFA affiliates. This competition has been played every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946 when it was not held because of the Second World War.
It is scheduled to take place in Russia from 14 June to 15 July 2018. This will be the first time the World Cup is held in Russia in history.
To mark the occasion of this worldwide event the Spanish Royal Mint is issuing a very special collector set composed of two coins, the first a 2 escudos coin minted in .999 gold, and the second an 8 reales coin minted in .925 silver.
