As a Public Business Entity, the FNMT must be a leader in its work with the 2030 Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals and fully align with domestic regulations and plans such as the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan

No Poverty

This SDG aims to end poverty worldwide by reducing the population at risk of poverty, supporting the most vulnerable among us and increasing access to basic goods and services

At the FNMT, we contribute indirectly to this goal by supporting the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, thus supporting the creation of a fairer society through ethical Governance. This includes our Code of Conduct, Corporate Social Responsibility policy and a Human Resources Policy that aligns with the principles and values of the Global Compact.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • The 2030 Agenda and SDGs Project: contributing to the Global Partnership

This SDG aims to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture

At the FNMT, we are contributing indirectly to this goal through ethical Governance that integrates guiding principles on business and Human Rights into our Code of Conduct, contributing to society at every stage of the production chain as a public service.

Good Health and Well-being

This SDG aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being and health for everyone at all ages

At the FNMT, we are contributing via appropriate hygiene, health, safety and occupational risk prevention plans. Our CSR and Sustainability Policies also aim to secure our nation’s environmental health.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Training in occupational risk prevention: 90%+ attendance
  • Staff in cancer screening programmes: 347 people
  • Staff vaccination plan: 277 vaccinations
  • Work-life balance measures and flexible hours: 49% of staff
  • Accident rate reduction: 5% less than in 2021 
  • Technologies: new IT system for integrated risk prevention
  • Recertification under ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety
  • More machinery that meets RD 1215/1997 standards on health and safety

Quality Education

This SDG aims to ensure inclusive, equitable and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all

At the FNMT, we ensure that training and continuous learning is provided to all our staff. This is a significant investment to build their skills and abilities, thus improving our productivity and the entire value chain of the public service we offer.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Investment in training: 630,751 € in training programmes
  • Hours of training provided: 36,119 total hours in the last year
  • Attendance: 5,906 attendances (81.4% of the planned total)
  • New online platform: 58.89% of courses online (45+ courses)
  • Personalised training and professional development: 1,115 participants
  • School of Engraving and Graphic Design: 30+ years of specialised training
  • SDG participation and awareness: Campaign targeting 1,193 workers
Gender Equality

Gender Equality

This SDG aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls worldwide

At the FNMT, we are fully committed to promoting gender equality as an effective, cross-cutting value across all our policies, especially those pertaining to labour and human resources. This can be seen in our III Equality Plan and Gender Equality Unit, as well as in the composition of our governing bodies.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Launch of the Gender Equality Unit
  • III Equal Opportunities Plan and Anti-Harassment Protocol
  • Full equalisation of pay by position
  • No pay gap and gender mainstreaming in data
  • Work-life balance: 49% of staff with flexible hours

Clean Water and Sanitation

This SDG aims to ensure global water availability, sustainable water management, water quality and sanitation for all

At the FNMT, we want to contribute through our Environmental Policy framework by sustainably managing the water resources involved in the creation and provision of all our products and services.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Water-saving technologies: 15 new meters integrated into the BMS smart savings system
  • Plans: Sustainable water management plan: annual certified monitoring
  • Wastewater control: Protocol for the separation of domestic and industrial effluents
  • Measurement: 90% below pollutant limit. Monthly analyses
  • Storage: Chemicals and safety cabinets review
  • Training: talks, intranet publications, informational brochures, etc. 
Affordable and Clean Energy

Affordable and Clean Energy

This SDG aims to promote access to affordable, secure, sustainable and modern energy for all

At the FNMT, as part of our Environmental Policy, we invest in clean energy sources, helping back technologies that reduce electricity consumption and seeking greater energy efficiency in the domestic and European context.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Renewable technologies: new 100-kW photovoltaic panels
  • Generation for self-consumption: 110,000+ kW/year 
  • Savings: 10% energy savings in the last year = 1,875,000+ kWh
  • Certification: ISO 50001 for energy efficiency, since 2016
  • Lighting: replacement of fluorescent lighting with 5,617 LEDs
  • Measurement and monitoring: 98 smart electricity meters
  • Training: training conferences. Sustainability on the intranet
  • Awareness-raising campaign: free publications and brochures

Decent Work and Economic Growth

This SDG aims to promote sustained economic growth, generate wealth and prosperity, reduce unemployment and support productive employment and decent work

At the FNMT, we are committed to our country's economic development and productivity, ensuring that basic security and identity rights are respected in our communications with other government bodies and the public, rooted in our commitment to public service and to protecting the labour rights of our workers.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Turnover and domestic GDP contribution: 274 million €
  • Positive return and benefits: 24.9 million+ €
  • Average number of employees in 2021: 1,217 people
  • Investment in training for skill-building and productivity: 630,751 €

This SDG promotes inclusive and sustainable industrialisation, fostering innovation and technology while increasing productivity and incomes in the fourth industrial revolution

At the FNMT, we incorporate innovation, technologies, process automation and across-the-boards digitalisation to maximise the quality of our products and services, aligning this productive transformation with all our plans and strategies as a public enterprise.

Reduced Inequalities

This SDG aims to reduce inequality within and among countries

At the FNMT, we are contributing to this goal by providing dignified working conditions, especially for minority groups, avoiding wage discrimination, implementing financial and tax hazard avoidance mechanisms and producing goods and services that contribute to the Spanish and European economies.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • People with disabilities in the workforce: 3.27%. Above the legally required minimum
  • Contribution to domestic GDP: 274 million € last year

Sustainable Cities and Communities

This SDG aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe and sustainable by promoting green spaces, better transport, decent living conditions and the protection of cultural heritage

At the FNMT, we are contributing to this SDG both with advanced production technologies and systems and with our environmental and human resources policy. We also protect cultural heritage through the Mint Museum.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Environmental Best Practices project: in Production Systems

  • Partnership with the Albéniz Foundation and the Royal Theatre

Responsible Consumption and Production

This SDG aims to promote efficient resource and energy use and the construction of environmentally friendly infrastructure

At the FNMT, we aim to use natural resources more efficiently and incorporate sustainability in all our processes, reducing, recycling and monitoring the products we manufacture and issue, as well as providing training and raising awareness among our staff and suppliers.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Emissions: 90% below the permitted limit
  • Wastewater: control and separation of normal and industrial wastewater
  • Recycling: 806,000 kg of paper waste recycled
  • Technologies: radio-frequency (RFID) control and efficiency
  • Digitalisation and automation in the Company 4.0 Plan
  • Training and awareness in environmental matters
  • Annual Environmental reports and statements

This SDG aims to take urgent action to combat climate change and its effects, putting this at the top of domestic political agendas

At the FNMT, we want to contribute via our Environmental Policy by reducing CO2 emissions, promoting renewable energies over fossil fuels and investing in R&D&I.

Life Below Water

This SDG promotes the conservation and sustainable use of our oceans, seas and marine resources, protecting marine and coastal ecosystems while reducing marine pollution and ocean acidification

At the FNMT, we are helping protect our seas and oceans through our Environmental Policy, which includes the best possible control, measurement and reduction of carbon emissions, plastics, possible effluents and pollutants.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Wastewater control: no industrial discharge into the general sewage system
  • Industrial landfill management: as a hazardous waste for safety
  • Measurement: 90%+ below pollutant limit
  • Analysis: monthly wastewater analysis by the FNMT laboratory. Reduction of plastics
  • Annual water monitoring: by authorised monitoring body
  • Training: talks, intranet publications, informational brochures, etc.

Life On Land

This SDG aims to sustainably manage forests and ecosystems, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

At the FNMT, our Environmental Policy aims to contribute to Spain's biodiversity - the greatest in the European Union - by respecting environmental regulations and taking into account the value of natural resources and biological diversity throughout our business strategy.

We contribute with measures such as:

  • Waste plan: 100% of paper and cardboard destined for recycling
  • Monitoring of paper use
  • Recycling: 806,000 kg of paper waste recycled
  • Emissions: 90% below the permitted limit
