Spanish Presidency of the EU - Proof
Introduction
For the first six months of 2010 Spain will undertake the presidency of the EU Council of Ministers. Within the framework of the new system of rotating presidencies, Spain will share European Union objectives with Belgium and Hungary for the eighteen month period from January 1 2010 to June 30 2011.
The Spanish Royal Mint joined in the commemoration of this important event with the minting of a new collector coin having a face value of 10 Euros.
Details
The reverse bears a central depiction of a column with interlaced lines symbolizing a coming together of flags. The area above this features the logotype created for the Spain/Belgium/Hungary team presidency, shaped with the lower-case letters "eu".
The obverse portrays the effigy of His Majesty King Juan Carlos.
