June 19th 2014 was a date of historical importance: the Proclamation of HM Philip VI as the King of Spain.
To mark the occasion, Real Casa de la Moneda minted the official commemorative medal in sterling silver, thereby keeping to the centuries-old tradition of honouring a historical event of such significance.
Details - Medal
The obverse shows the royal crown flanked by the fleur-de-lis, the emblem of the Bourbon Dynasty. In the legend, reference is made for the first time to the name of the new monarch, Philip VI, alongside the title, King of Spain.
The reverse shows the central motif of the sculptural assemblage on the frontispiece of the Lower House (Congress), beneath which is the date of the Proclamation, June 19th 2014.
