First Series Heritage of Mankind Cities

Introduction

A new series of collector coins was launched in 2014 under the heading «Heritage of Mankind Cities in Spain», incorporating future annual releases.

The first release is dedicated to the cities of Alcalá de Henares, Avila, Baeza, Caceres and Córdoba, all of which are included in the World Heritage List.

Details

This first set includes five proof quality coins in sterling silver. Each coin comes in a transparent coin capsule nestled into a stylish presentation case.

The coins are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by the FNMT-RCM.

4 reales silver - Alcalá de Henares

The obverse (common to all five coins) bears replicas of the UNESCO logotype and the official crest of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse reproduces a view of the Plaza de Cervantes in Alcalá de Henares, and in the foreground, the monument erected in remembrance of the author of "The Ingenious Gentleman Don Quixote of La Mancha".

The obverse (common to all five coins) bears replicas of the UNESCO logotype and the official crest of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse replicates a view of the front facade of the church of Saint Peter the Apostle in Avila, and the monument to Saint Teresa de Jesus.

4 reales silver - Baeza

The obverse (common to all five coins) replicates the UNESCO logotype and the official crest of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse replicates a view of the main façade of the Palace of Jabalquinto, today the headquarters of the Antonio Machado Campus at the International University of Andalusia.

The obverse (common to all five coins) replicates the UNESCO logotype and the official crest of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse replicates a view of the city of Caceres with the church of San Francisco Javier in the foreground.

The obverse (common to all five coins) replicates the UNESCO logotype and the official crest of the World Heritage Convention.

The reverse reproduces a view of the city of Córdoba showing the Roman Bridge over the Guadalquivir, and the Mosque-Cathedral.
