2 Euros Proof - 30 years of the EU flag
Introduction
The year 2015 marks the 30th anniversary of the European Union flag.
To commemorate this important event, the nine-teen euro-area countries jointly issue a commemorative euro coin, whose national side bears a common design for all members.
Details
In the middle of the obverse a flag is displayed as a symbol that unites people and cultures with shared visions and ideals for a better common future. Twelve stars that morph into human figures are embracing the birth of a new Europe. Under the first figure the initials of George Stamatopoulos, the designer. In the outer ring shows the 12 stars of the European Union.
This coin is hand-minted utilizing specially treated blanks and dies that ensure maximum, i.e. proof, quality. This proof quality coin comes in a stylish coin case marked with its edition number. The edition for this coins will be limited to 10,000 units.
