6th Series Treasures Spanish Museums - Bicentenary of the Museum del Prado

Description

As the year 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the opening of Museo Nacional del Prado, Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda is dedicating the sixth issue of the collection Treasures of Spanish Museums to this major event.

The complete set is comprised of six coins: three gold 2-escudo coins and three square pieces in silver.

The obverse of each of the coins, which are finished in proof quality, is illustrated with a small display of some of the most iconic works kept at the Prado. The reverse, which is common to all, reproduces the logo of the Prado Bicentenary, together with an image of the seated statue of Velázquez, which was executed by Aniceto Marinas in 1899 and now stands in front of Puerta de Velázquez at the Prado.

All the coins are presented in elegant jewellery cases and may be acquired as single items or in the form of a collection of the three gold or the three silver coins.

The characteristics of each of the pieces are outlined below:/p>
