History of Aviation (4th issue)

Description

In 2018, the Royal Mint issued a series of collector coins dedicated to the History of Navigation. Due to their great acceptance among our collectors, this year it has been decided to continue with a new series, this time dedicated to the History of Aviation.

This collection maintains a similar structure to the previous one, consisting of 20 coins on the obverse of which are represented in full colour images of those aircraft which for some reason are, or have been, emblematic throughout history, with some aircraft appearing in which our country has contributed to their manufacture.

For more information on each of the units that make up the collection, you can consult this website, where all the images appear, together with a brief description and the main characteristics of each of the aircraft.

All the pieces, coined in cupronickel, have the same diameter (33 mm) and face value of 1.5 euros. The maximum mintage of this collection is 7,500 units.

The common reverse side also depicts a two-bladed propeller protruding from a central circle on the coin. Outside this circle are images of two turbines.

All coins can be purchased individually. Together with the coins, an album is available for sale, which also contains a book with detailed information on each of the aircraft included in the collection, as well as on the manufacturing process of the pieces and other interesting details. By purchasing the first five pieces of the collection together (Flyer, Saeta, Bell X-1, Concorde and Northrop F-5), you will get both the album and the book of the collection free of charge.

If you wish, you can subscribe and receive the complete collection at your home, without shipping costs, in four monthly deliveries composed of five coins.

Below you can find the pieces that make up this series. Click on the name of the aircraft to see a larger image of the corresponding coin.
