Description
The Royal Mint has issued two collector's coins in tribute to Salvador Dalí, one of them in the rectangular shape of half a kilo of pure silver, and the other, minted in sterling silver, with a metric of 8 reales.
Both pieces feature a portrait of Salvador Dalí on one side, the work of the photographer Melitó Casals, and on the other side, colour details of some of his best-known works.
The obverse of the rectangular coin depicts the image of the painting "The Temptation of Saint Anthony", surrounded by an ant trail.
The reverse of the 8 reales coin features a detail of the work "Galatea of the Sferes", created by the artist in 1952, which shows Gala's bust composed of a matrix of spheres suspended in space.
